**Second Chances**

**Disclaimer: I don't own Ugly Betty.**

Daniel sat alone in the empty hospital room, staring at the empty space where his father used to be. _He's really gone._ A bunch of tears slid down his face, and he wiped them away. He thought about everything that had happened in the past twelve hours. He regretted firing Betty. Even though everything worked out between them, but he still regretted it. She's not coming back, and even though he acted like it didn't bother him, it did.

He regretted all of the mean things that he's said to his father. He regretted not telling his father that he loved him. _I never told him that I loved him._ More tears streamed down his face. He wiped them away with the back of his hand. Not telling his father he loved him made him feel miserable. His father would never know. It made his ache all over. Heart-wrenching pain that would not go away. He closed his eyes and he tried to "wake up." He thought that maybe if he tried hard enough, that it would all go away. He tried to convince himself that he would wake up, and that it would all be a dream. But he couldn't. He felt a hand touch his shoulder. "Daniel."

Daniel turned his head, but only for a second. He blinked a couple times, and he stood up swiftly, and whirled around. "Dad?"

Bradford smiled. "Yes, Daniel, it's me." Daniel moved closer to him and touched his arm to make sure that he was real. They pulled each other into a deep hug. Daniel squeezed him tighter, and he smiled a little.

"Dad, Am I dreaming? Are-Are you really dead?"

"Yes, Daniel, I am dead, and no, you're not dreaming. I'm really here with you right now."

Daniel was happy to see his dad again. It was his second chance. A second chance to make things right. Daniel looked down at the ground. He drew in a deep breath, and he let it out. He gave Bradford a meaningful look, "Dad. I want to tell you that-that I love you. I know I've never said it before, and I'm not just saying it because you're dead. I really, _truly_ mean it." Daniel closed his eyes, and the tears ran down his face.

Tears ran down Bradford's face, too as he moved closer to Daniel. He softly placed his hand on Daniel's shoulder. "I already knew, Daniel. You didn't have to say it…but I'm glad you did. I love you too, son." Bradford pulled Daniel into a tight embrace. "I'm sorry for the way I've treated you." Daniel tried to contain his tears, but he couldn't. Everything he's wanted to hear was just said to him.

After what seemed like a lifetime, they pulled away. When they pulled away, it didn't seem so long. "Goodbye, Daniel." Daniel shook his head. He didn't want him to go. "I'll see you later. Take care. I love you." He smiled at Daniel as he disappeared. Daniel smiled and a tear trickled down Daniel's face. "I love you too, Dad."
